Community, Tradition and Everyday Cooperation
Meals at Kapnikos Stathmos Katerini are an integral part of everyday community life and are prepared by our staff on site.
From Monday to Friday, participants are provided with three meals per day, prepared by the organization. Breakfast is served buffet-style and includes a variety of options such as coffee, cereal, bread, fruits, and other basic items.
Lunch and dinner follow a rotating weekly meal plan based on typical local cuisine. Meals usually include a balanced combination of vegetables, salads, fish or meat, and are prepared by skilled hands at Kapnikos Stathmos. Our staff takes into account and respects all dietary needs, choices and restrictions whenever possible, and adaptations can be made upon prior communication.
During periods with a larger number of volunteers—such as team projects or summer camps—the organized meal service is extended to include weekends, meaning that meals are provided from Monday to Sunday.
At other times, weekends are self-organized. In these cases, volunteers plan their meals for Saturday and Sunday collectively and submit a simple meal plan no later than Thursday at noon. Ingredients are selected from a wide list of around 50 available products provided by Kapnikos Stathmos. If volunteers wish to prepare meals that require additional ingredients not included in this list, these can be purchased independently.
This system strengthens the feeling of shared responsibility, flexibility, and collective decision-making, while ensuring that everyone has access to adequate and nutritious food throughout their stay.
